The goal of the Surgery Department at McCurtain Memorial Hospital is to provide a positive overall experience during a difficult time. We strive to use the best equipment available, and adhere to the highest standards.
Some surgeries and procedures require only a one-day stay in the hospital, others are overnight or longer. It is up to your surgeon to decide what is best for you.
The surgery team consists of the surgeon, an assistant if the case warrants, a scrub nurse to hand the surgeon his instruments, a circulating nurse to help out where needed—but not at the sterile field, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to administer sedation and monitor you during the operation and, most importantly, YOU.
With that in mind, if you do need surgery, please follow exactly the instructions given by your doctor. If you’re not sure about something, ask for clarification.
